ATTENTION ALL ASPIRING FILMMAKERS AND FILM STUDENTS!

Have you…

…always wanted to make a movie, but just don’t know where to start?

…always wanted to go to film school, but just can’t afford it?

…started making a film, only to get stuck and not be able to find the help you need?

…already made a film, but it’s just sitting there on a shelf, collecting dust?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, then I am so glad you’re here!

Welcome to FilmSchoolOnDemand!

My name is David Basulto, and I am the founder and dean of FilmSchoolOnDemand. Before I tell you what FSOD is all about, let me tell you a little about myself first, so you know where I am coming from:

I’ve been working in the film industry for years. You can check out my IMDB page by clicking here. After years of producing feature films and television, I decided to check out digital filmmaking. I immediately fell in love with the process, not to mention how cost effective it is.

In 2005, I directed my first film, Death Clique, for $10,000. I received a worldwide distribution deal for it – go to any Blockbuster Video store, and you’ll find my film. You can find it on NetFlix, too, as well as many other places.

I run a podcast, Filmmaking Central, where I talk a lot about the processes and art of digital filmmaking. I found that many of my podcast listeners were getting in touch with me to ask me how I got “Death Clique” made and got that distribution deal.

I began answering those questions on my podcast, but then I realized I could take it a giant step further and make it even easier for aspiring filmmakers to get the information they need to succeed like I did.

And with that idea, FilmSchoolOnDemand was born!

So what is FilmSchoolOnDemand?

If you have listened to any of my podcasts, then you know that I am dedicated to the art and business of digital filmmaking. I don’t believe that you need to do it like they did in “the old days” anymore, because right now, right here, today, everything you need is easily within your reach. Armed with your creativity, and the right knowledge of the business side of things, you can and will succeed in the film world!

And that’s why I created FilmSchoolOnDemand. We offer you video lessons, discussion and help forums, as well as support via instant messenger, and even live events, to help you take you and your work to the next level – WITHOUT the need for traditional film school or any of the other trappings that are rapidly becoming obsolete.

I mean, did you know that traditional film schools cost an average of $25,000 to $125,000 and don’t even let you own the films that YOU make?

That’s right. You lose 4 years of your life, take on a mountain of debt, and then you don’t even own the films you make while you are there.

Crazy, right?

Well, no more – in the age of digital filmmaking, the tools you need are so much less expensive compared to the old way of doing it, and that means that there is no reason that you should not follow your dreams of making a movie – and succeed at it!

When you join, the first FilmSchoolOnDemand lesson you will receive is FILM 101 – Making and Selling Your First Film.

What are current students saying?

“I’ve been a listener to Dave’s ‘Filmmaking Central’ podcast for going on 2 yrs. I’ve been in the business on the crew side (as a location sound mixer) and have made a few short films of my own. But I really decided- through the encouragement of Dave’s podcast to take the step and produce feature films that I wanted to make. When he announced his ‘Film School on Demand’(FSOD) web course I became a member right away.

Around the same time we had shot a trailer for a film a gaffer friend of mine wrote. We were going to use this trailer to raise money for the film. I stepped up and told the group “I will produce this film”. I’m glad to say we’re in Production!

Dave had produced and ‘SOLD’ his film Death Clique and I followed him through the process on the podcast. I knew that FSOD would go into greater detail- and it did! Not only did each lesson lay out detailed information that is first hand experience but he makes himself available on the ‘members only forum’. This to me is one of the selling points of the course. I’ve have several questions answered over the forum for my particular situation.

I’ve used Dave’s lessons to set up and structure our deal, and used his valuable production tips so that we didn’t have to experience the downfalls of learning by “the school of hard knocks”.

He even worked with one of his distributors to allow members to have their script looked over and give a ‘first look deal’.

If anyone wants to pursue film making FSOD is probably the best place to start. I jokingly told the Director of our film that I was going to give Dave an Associate Producer credit for all his help.

Thanks Dave!”
